  • Adjutant of the Fourth Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania, during the riots at Reading in 1877.
  • Elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth Congresses (March 4, 1893-March 3, 1897).
  • Was not a candidate for reelection in 1896.
  • Resumed the practice of law in Allentown.
  • Trustee of Muhlenberg College at Allentown.
  • President of the Coplay Cement Manufacturing Co., the Allentown & Coopersburg Turnpike Co., and the Allen Fire Insurance Co. for many years.
  • Died in Allentown, Pa., January 15, 1911.
